Kindergarten
Coastal Family Kindergarten exists as an expression of our school’s core values through hands-on learning experiences with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, math and high quality literature. Kindergarteners will follow a developmentally appropriate schedule apart from our preschool classrooms. Along with being challenged in areas like language arts and math, students also experience project based learning, engaging science experiments and humanities.
Our in-person Kindergarten program follows the same weekly schedule as our other elementary school classrooms with both full time and hybrid options (Mondays off campus for hybrid students, Tues/Wed/Thurs on campus, Friday community engagement). There are options for a half day program (1pm pick up) or a full day (3pm pick up). Coastal Family School kindergarteners are also welcome to join after school care at Coastal Family Preschool which is available until 5:00pm.
Curriculum
For many children, Kindergarten is their first experience in a group learning environment. Creating an environment and curating lessons that spark a desire to be lifelong learners is critical in this foundational year of school. At Coastal Family School our kindergarteners will not only engage in a robust reading and language art curriculum, build the foundational skills of mathematics and discover the wonders of our world through science and social studies but they will be surrounded by a community that will guide their social and emotional learning through in building positive relationships, celebrating their unique abilities and supporting emotional regulation.
